The dictionary will tell you a 'shrew' is a tiny, mouse like animal. What it won't tell you is what is most heartbreaking about the shrew, that it has only a very tiny stomach and is subsequently always hungry. It won't tell you that's the reason why it screams.Why it's always screaming. A shrill, piercing, echoing scream. An endless, relentlessly hungry wail.
